About Twin Trees Coffee

Hi there 👋

My name is Phil Kelly and Twin Trees is my nano-roastery. This is my passion project and a home-based business. I roast on 100% renewable energy provided by MCE where I live in El Cerrito, CA.

Mission

Like many Californians, the wildfires of 2020 have had a big impact on me. Climate change has caused the fire-season to last 3 months longer, fires burn hotter due to excessively dry vegetation, and heat waves occur more frequently. There is broad agreement that more controlled burning is needed and infrastructure should be more resilent, but 2020 has highlighted to me that climate change is going to impact us in many ways and the clock is ticking to address the worst impacts of it. We all need to do what we can.

Why coffee?

I drink coffee everyday and love every aspect of it. From the ritual of brewing by hand in the morning, stopping by a cafe to meet a friend, or just taking a few minutes for myself to enjoy a cup in the afternoon.

With every 8 oz bag of beans you buy I will donate $1 to Carbonfund.org to plant a tree. This will offset roughly 31 lbs of carbon emissions. With the average American emitting 50,000 lbs per year this doesn't get you off the hook for your entire carbon footprint, but it does make a dent. I hope you will join me in this endeavor to combat climate change, build awareness, and enjoy some damn good beans ☕️
